Winter Advisory

Marysville Public Works street crews are continuing on 24-hour coverage responding to compact snow and ice conditions on local roads. While rain began to fall around 1 a.m. in the Marysville with temperatures on the upswing, sheets of ice underneath snow on roadways are still creating a treacherous drive for motorists.

If you do venture out today on local roads, slow down, use good judgment, proceed with caution, and leave enough space between you and other vehicles.

The following hillside road closures are in effect:
• 84th Street NE (Getchell Hill Road)
• 75th Avenue approaching 83rd Avenue
• 77th Avenue off 83rd Avenue near Marysville Getchell High School
• 67th and 58th

We also want to alert drivers on 67th Avenue that the traffic signals at the intersections at Grove and 84th are blacked out because of power outages. Please treat these intersections as regular all-way stops, in the interests of safety for motorists and pedestrians.

Street crews today continue to focus their attention on plowing and sanding secondary routes that feed into main roads in and out of Marysville for commuters, and hitting primary arterials like State Avenue, Grove Street, Ingraham and Sunnyside Boulevards, and 172nd in the Lakewood area, as they respond to secondary roads.

In addition to clearing roadways, Street crews now are also removing downed trees and branches on local roads when they come across them while out in the field.

As snow and ice begin to melt today coupled with rainfall, the City’s storm drainage system is going to be taxed, raising the potential for flooding.

If you have a storm drain or catch basin in front of your home or in your driveway, you can by using a shovel or broom to clear the drain of snow the same, as our Public Works crews will be doing.

In the meantime, if you have been missed this week, keep your full carts and cans at the curb as Solid Waste crews how to pickup routes by tomorrow when road conditions improve, Worst case, Solid Waste crews will pick up a double load next week.

Waste Management NW is shutting down operations is not running residential routes today. If you’re a residential customer, WM will pick up a double load on your next scheduled blue-cart recycling pickup day.
