Marysville lauded for financial reporting excellence

The City of Marysville has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. Making the announcement at the City Council Work Session on Monday, Nov. 7, Mayor Jon Nehring thanked Sandy Langdon, Finance Director, and Denise Gritton, Financial Planning Manager, for their exemplary work.

This highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting is issued by the Government Finance Officers Association for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2015. As the individual primarily responsible for preparing the city’s award-winning comprehensive annual financial report, Gritton was also recognized with an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement.

The city has had nine consecutive years of clean financial audits and last year introduced Open Budget and Open Checkbook, user-friendly online resources for citizens to transparently explore the city’s budget and payment information. Learn more at www.marysvillewa.gov/.
