Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes

·         Neighborhood Park Survey model was reviewed. Surveys will be conducted at most upcoming events sponsored by parks and recreation this summer. Survey will focus on improving neighborhood parks with access to fitness courses and diverse family play opportunities.

 

·         Adopt-A-Park Volunteer Opportunities were established and sign-ups now available to assist with:

1.   Popcorn in the Parks Outdoor Cinema Series/ June-Sept

2.   All-Comers Track Meet Series/ July-August

·         Announced additional summer Healthy Community event menu and projects:

Asbery Field Serve Volunteer Renovation Day/May-October

Saturday and Wednesday Walking Programs/June-August

Get Movin’ Program/ June-September

Off Leash Park Development/Summer 08’

 

·         Addition of a new After School Activity Program at Totem Middle School was discussed and support was established to pursue outside funding strategies to support the need for the middle school age group. Totem Middle School Principal has agreed to support a program with dedicated space in Fall of 2008  

 

·         Developmental Asset report was given inviting the committee members  to the next presentation on June 24 from 8 am to noon at United Methodist Church Community Room.

 

·         Healthy Community Signs have been ordered for installation throughout the community.

 

·         Next Meeting Date June 25, 2008 6 pm Jennings Park
