The mission of the Crime Analysis Unit is to support the operational elements and the administration of the Police Department by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information on crime pattern detection, crime-suspect correlation, target profile analysis, and forecasting crime potential, trends and patterns.
The Crime Analysis Unit is under the Administrative Services Division.
Crime analysis is a specialized profession in policing that uses a set of systematic, analytical processes directed at providing timely and relevant information relative to crime, and proposing solutions to patterns and trends in crime. Crime analysis assists operational and administrative personnel in planning the deployment of resources for the prevention and suppression of criminal activities, aiding the investigative process, and increasing apprehensions and the clearances of cases.
