Mayor Jon Nehring
The Honorable Mayor Jon Nehring, a resident of Marysville for 18 years, was elected to serve as Mayor in November 2011 after appointment to the office by the City Council in 2010. He served on the Council from 2002-2010, and several of those years as Mayor Pro Tem.
Responsibilities
- Developing parks on city property
- Expanding economic development efforts to broaden our tax base
- Maintaining fiscal stability through balanced budgets, increasing reserve accounts, paying down debt aggressively, and ensuring that all funds are healthy and solvent
- Improving traffic circulation and alleviate congestion through major road construction projects
- Maintaining public safety as our top priority, and ensuring that integrated, innovative approaches to policing are responsive to community needs and built around a partnership of trust between citizens and police personnel
- Establishing a stronger community through partnering with citizens to solve problems and improve the quality of life
- Maintaining transparency and accountability in city government
- Protecting Marysville's streams and water resources without putting undue burdens on citizens
