The Honorable Mayor Jon Nehring, a resident of Marysville for 20 years, was elected to serve as Mayor in November 2011 after appointment to the office by the City Council in July 2010. He was on the City Council from January 2002-July 2010, including several years as Mayor Pro Tem.

Mayor's Priorities
  • Attracting and retaining a mix of businesses that create a more walkable, pedestrian-friendly downtown and waterfront area
  • Maintaining public safety as our top priority and ensuring that integrated and innovative approaches to policing are responsive to community needs and built around a partnership of trust between citizens and police personnel
  • Expanding economic development efforts to broaden our tax base, with focus on creating a master planned manufacturing-industrial job center in the Smokey Point area
  • Improving traffic circulation and alleviating congestion through major road construction projects like those completed in 2012, which included the 156th Street/I-5 overpass in the Lakewood-Smokey Point area, 51st Avenue extension connecting 84th to 88th, SR 92/SR 9 break in access in the Sunnyside-Whiskey Ridge area, and sidewalk/shoulder improvements. More sidewalk and shoulder improvements have been happening in 2013.
  • Developing parks on property the city already owns, and building more trails for our parks inventory including the second phase of Bayview Trail in the eastside Marysville foothills, and a trail within the Qwuloolt Estuary Restoration Project south of southeast of the city center.
  • Maintaining transparency and accountability in city government
  • Protect Marysville's streams and water resources without putting undue burdens on citizens
