The current outbreak of the Zika virus disease (Zika) has caused some concern among people living in Washington State. This page is intended to direct citizens to the appropriate agencies for updated information about Zika.

The following is a brief summary of important information to know about the Zika virus in Washington State, and the City of Marysville:
  • Washington State does not have either type of mosquito (Aedes aegypti or  Aedes albopictus)
  • State and Federal health agencies are closely monitoring the spread and distribution of the Zika virus around the globe
  • There is presently no risk for local transmission through mosquitoes
  • The City of Marysville has an updated Aquatic Pesticide Applicator's License, which enables the City to spray for mosquito larvae should the need arise
