The City of Marysville invites you to join a volunteer event this fall and winter. Monthly volunteer events will take place at the centerpiece of Marysville’s extensive parks system, Jennings Memorial Park, on the first Saturday of the month from October to February. Jennings Memorial Park offers 30 acres of forest, wetland, and meandering trails that need year-long support from community volunteers to keep up its beloved status.
“Many people think of parks being used mostly during the summer months. However, our parks in Marysville are well used year-round,” said Sam Giffin, Volunteer and Community Event Coordinator. “With the continuous use of our parks, the parks are always in need of support from volunteers.”
Typical volunteer work includes spreading wood chips, trimming back invasive species, picking up litter and covering up graffiti. These cleanup events will happen rain or shine from 9 a.m. to noon with no registration required. Volunteers will meet at the Jennings Memorial Red Barn at 6915 Armar Road. Tools will be provided, and volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves, sturdy shoes and a water bottle.
