Appointments to Civil Service, Salary & Planning commissions

The Marysville City Council on Monday, Sept. 11, appointed Brad Thompson to serve on the Civil Service Commission and Salary Commission. The Council also reappointed Tom Thetford to the Planning Commission. Mayor Jon Nehring recommended the appointments.

Thompson is retired. Following a 32-year career in the Air Force, he established WSU Everett’s first academic presence in Snohomish County as clinical professor and program coordinator for its Mechanical Engineering program.

Thetford also is retired after working for more than 30 years for the City of Everett, including as its public works director. He is an active member of Marysville Rotary.

The Civil Service Commission oversees the recruitment and selection process for the police department. The Salary Commission reviews the salaries paid to city elected officials. The Planning Commission serves as an advisory board to the Mayor and City Council related to land use plans.
