In uneasy times, donating blood is a positive step

Blood Drive March 31, 11-4 at Marysville Library

With available blood supplies critically low in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we encourage eligible and healthy donors to consider giving blood soon.

A Marysville blood drive is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ken Baxter Community Center, 514 Delta Ave. To make an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter Marysville to schedule an appointment.

“Donating blood is a safe process and people should not hesitate to give or receive blood,” according to the American Red Cross. “But please postpone your donation for 28 days following travel to China and its special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau, as well as Iran, Italy and South Korea, or if you’ve been diagnosed with or have had contact with anyone with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.”

Donating blood takes about an hour of your time and one donation can help up to three people. Visit www.redcrossblood.org for more eligibility information.

The American Red Cross Northwest Region, Sno-Isle Libraries and the City of Marysville are sponsoring this blood drive.
