Marysville Police ‘Coats for Kids’ drive Nov. 21

Marysville Police invite you to come meet them on Saturday, Nov. 21, for a holiday coat drive to benefit children in need in the Marysville community. Officers and city staff will be collecting donations of new children’s coats, hoodie sweatshirts for teens, hats, scarves and gloves from noon to 3 p.m. that day at Kohl’s, 3713 116th St. N.E., Marysville.

“In a typical year, we run several coat drives that collectively collect 500 to 600 coats for needy children in our community,” Police Chief Erik Scairpon said. “This year because of the pandemic, we will focus our efforts on holding one event. I want to challenge the community to bring coats to this drive to help meet the needs of the youngest and most valuable resource in our community, our children.”

Donations collected will be distributed through the Holiday Toy Store in connection with the Marysville Community Food Bank. You can also donate new books, toys, gifts and warm clothing for children and teens at the red collection barrels at the Marysville Police Department, 1635 Grove St., and Parks, Culture and Recreation Department (Jennings Park, 6915 Armar Rd.) and at several businesses throughout the city.

You can donate online at the Toy Store’s Amazon registry (https://tinyurl.com/toystoreamazon) or through the food bank at www.marysvillefoodbank.org (leave a note for “Toy Store” to fund gifts).
