Just after 1:00 p.m. today the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team recovered the body of a 20 year old female from Twin Lakes Park in north Marysville.
At around 4:00 a.m. this morning, a Marysville police officer was conducting a routine check at the park and came across an adult male and female who reported that they were looking for the sister of the female. It was learned the two sisters had been swimming in the south lake and that at some point the witness female had gotten out of the water to walk to the car to put the dogs in it and to retrieve some clothes. She stated that she heard splashing in the water as she was walking away from the lake and assumed the victim female was also getting out of the water. She came back to the water and couldn’t find the victim. She began looking around the area for her sister and called the male friend to help her come look for her. She told the officer they had been looking for her for about two hours.
Additional officers arrived on-scene and conducted a lengthy search throughout the park and surrounding vicinity the remainder of the morning. Other family members were contacted and none knew of her whereabouts, other than she was swimming with her younger sister.
The Snohomish County Dive Team was requested and responded. A Marysville Police drone operator located a body just outside of the marked swimming area in about 12 feet of water. The dive team was able to recover the victim and turned her over to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office, who will provide official identification of the victim at a later time.
