1. Who are the coaches?

All teams are coached by certified volunteers. Your coach will contact you by the end of November. If you are interested in volunteering to coach, please contact the Park Office at 360-363-8400.

2. How are teams formed?

By school, grade and gender. The following is a list of our divisions:

Boys or Girls grade 1 Boys or Girls grades 4 & 5
Boys or Girls grades 2 & 3 Boys or Girls grades 6 - 8

Grades 1-5:
All participants will be assigned to teams based on school, grade and gender. Each team will ideally carry no more than 10 players. The program's goal is to have children play on teams comprised of other children from their school. However, depending upon the number of volunteers, we may not be able to place your child on a team from his/her school.

Grades 6-8:
All registered players will be assigned to a team. Skill Evaluations are needed to assist in selecting well-balanced teams based on the skills observed during the session. This is accomplished by an evaluation and draft process.

3. Can I make a team or buddy request?

It is our intention to create balanced teams. With this in mind, special requests for a specific coach or to play with a particular individual may not be granted.

4. What if my child misses the skill evaluation?

Players who miss the evaluation session will be randomly assigned to a team after the completion of the draft. No special placement requests will be granted.

5. When will practices take place?

Teams will practice once a week with practice start times ranging from 5 - 8 p.m. Practices start the first week of December. All teams will be scheduled for two Saturday practices and at least one weeknight practice prior to the start of Winter Break. No practices will be held during Winter Break.

6. When do games begin?

Saturday, January 7th. A majority of games played will be scheduled for Saturdays. Some weeknight games may be scheduled towards the end of the season beginning the first week of March.

7. Where are games played?

All games will be played in either Lakewood or Marysville School District Facilities. During all scheduled games, gyms will be supervised by City Staff. Staff will enforce all School District and City policies and rules. Please remember that we are guests in these School District Facilities. During the season, the School District reserves the right to cancel an occasional practice or game date. If this should occur, we will make every attempt to reschedule depending on when and if time is available.

8. Is a uniform provided?

All players will be furnished with an official league jersey; color will be chosen by Marysville Parks & Recreation. Parents are responsible for providing the balance of the uniform. All players are required to dress in appropriate athletic attire and non-marking athletic shoes.

9. When is picture day?

TBA. Generally, pictures take place on the second game day of the season at 7:30 a.m. in the Liberty Elementary Gym.

10. How can I best support my child’s sport experience?

Lots of love! Your child needs to know that you support him/her no matter the outcome of their performance or the final score of the game. Your child needs to see good sportsmanship and appropriate behavior on the sidelines. Ask your coach how you can follow through with the skills taught during practice at home, without the pressure of performance. Remember, this is a skills development program, not a precursor to college scholarships.
