Summer’s almost here, and so are Marysville Parks and Recreation’s crowd-pleasing series of free Friday concerts and Saturday movies under the stars in Jennings Memorial Park that will keep you entertained in the great outdoors this summer.
As a bonus this year, two free Wednesday children’s concerts have been added to the Sounds of Summer Concert Series calendar to cater to families on the lookout for fun mid-day activities.
“Marysville is a great place to be on Friday and Saturday nights this summer, and we’re thrilled to welcome you to these free recreational opportunities for your family and friends to enjoy,” says Parks and Recreation Director Jim Ballew. “The new children’s concerts are sure to be a hit with parents and kids.”
The Sounds of Summer Concert Series returns to its original 7 p.m. Fridays with six live performances showcasing some of the Pacific Northwest’s hottest acts – from roots rock to soulful jazz - starting with the Wild Snohomians on July 10. The concert series is sponsored by Puget Sound Pediatric Dentistry and Bourne Orthodontics.
All concerts are held in Jennings Memorial Park’s natural amphitheater near the Lions Centennial Pavilion, 6915 Armar Road.

The Popcorn in the Park movie series is bigger – literally – and better this year thanks to gracious support from exclusive sponsor Kids ‘N Us Early Learning Academy, Ballew says. Kids ‘N Us is not only sponsoring the movie series but has also donated funds to buy a larger inflatable movie screen.
“We’re so proud to partner with Kids ‘N Us in bringing great family movies to the big screen amid the beautiful park surroundings of Jennings Park,” Ballew says.
The series debuts July 11 featuring “Paddington.” Movies are shown at the Jennings Park Baseball Field, 6915 Armar Road, and will run Saturday nights through Aug. 15 starting at about 9 p.m. (or dusk).
