The Marysville Police Collision Investigation Team (CIT) was called early Sunday morning, Sept. 20, to investigate a fatal motorcycle collision.
At around 01:15 Sunday morning, patrol officers responded to a reported motorcycle collision in the 5800 block of Sunnyside Blvd., in Marysville. Responding officers were notified that CPR was in progress on the victim.
On-scene officers learned the motorcycle had left the roadway and struck a tree. Family members, who had been part of a multi-car caravan that included the motorcycle, were on the scene when officers arrived. A Marysville Police Support Chaplain responded to the scene to assist officers with distraught family members.
Marysville Fire personnel also responded to the scene and took over life-saving efforts but were unable to revive the victim. The motorcyclist, a 41-year-old Marysville man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Marysville CIT members were called to the scene to investigate why the collision occurred and to determine if any specific factors contributed to the accident.
The body was taken by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office for examination, including toxicology tests, which will be conducted to determine if other factors, such as alcohol and/or drugs played a part in the collision.
Sunnyside Blvd. was closed to thru traffic for several hours during the investigation
