[ARCHIVED] Arrest made in homicide of infant

Detectives with the Marysville Police Department have arrested a lone suspect in the murder of a 4 month-old girl. It is believed the 22 year-old Marysville woman was present and participated in the murder while babysitting.

On February 26th the 4 month-old female was at the residence of her babysitter, a family friend, at the 6600 block of 94th St NE, when she stopped breathing. Medics responded around 10:47 am and rushed the infant to Providence Regional Medical Center. The infant was later transported to Harborview Medical Center and kept on life support for three days until her death on February 29th.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner has ruled the infant’s death a homicide as a result of Anoxic Encephalopathy due to non-accidental trauma of the head and neck, formerly known as Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Detectives identified the 22-year-old babysitter as the person who is suspected as being responsible for the injuries to the 4-month old infant. The arrest was delayed due to pending lab and expert forensic results.
