[ARCHIVED] Grocery store robbery, assault lands 2 in jail

A 63-year-old Haggen’s Grocery Store clerk suffers a seriouscut to his face, narrowly missing his eye, while attempting to recover stolensteaks and bacon from a couple. 

 

At approximately 4:12 this morning a 28-year-old Everett woman and her 31-year-old Snohomish boyfriend were involved in a scuffle with aclerk at the Haggen’s Grocery Store, located in the 3700 block of 88thSt NE Marysville, WA. 

 

The female had shoplifted a couple packages of ribeye steakand some bacon. While the male was paying for other items, a Haggen’s clerk confrontedthe female at the front of the store over the stolen meat. The female wasuncooperative and began to fight with the clerk striking him in the face acouple of times. The male suspect then intervened in an attempt to free hisfemale partner, also striking the clerk in the face a couple of times. 

 

As the male suspect and the clerk now fought, the femalebroke lose, ran to their car returning to the store carrying a knife. Yellingat the clerk to let the male go while wielding the knife, she swung the knifeat the male clerk cutting him outside of his left eye and across the bridge ofhis nose causing the clerk to start bleeding “profusely”. 

 

The clerk was later transported by Marysville Fire to the Providence Regional Medical Center, Colby Campus Emergency Room with non-life-threatening injuries to his face. 

 

Marysville Patrol units arrived on scene while the male suspect was continuing to struggle with the clerk. The female suspect was located inside their car parked in front of the business. Marysville Officers took the female and male suspects into custody without further incident. 

 

Marysville Detectives were called out to investigate the assault and robbery. A search warrant on the vehicle is pending. Both suspects were booked into the Snohomish County Jail. The male suspect was booked on felony Robbery 1st degree charge, while the female suspect wasbooked on felony Assault 1st degree, and Robbery 1stdegree charges.
