Marysville – 09/11/17,
4:22 AM
An early morning suspicious person contact resulted in the arrest of a
36-year-old transient man, a two-vehicle collision, and one Marysville Officer
treated at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At about 4:22 AM, a Marysville Patrol Officer contacted a male outside a
residence in the 1000 block of Alder Avenue. During the contact, the officer
spotted drug paraphernalia in the man’s car and attempted to place him under arrest.
The man resisted, and was able to get back into his vehicle while fighting with
the arresting officer. The suspect put his vehicle in reverse and rapidly
backed into the roadway, dragging the officer with his car and striking the
patrol vehicle of a second officer who had arrived to assist.
The suspect vehicle then collided with a second unoccupied parked vehicle.
The suspect was taken into custody shortly afterward.
Both the suspect and arresting officer were taken to Providence Colby Campus
Hospital, where they were treated and released. The officer, age 30, who has
been with the department for three years, sustained a broken finger and bruised
hip. The suspect, after being medically evaluated, was transported to the
Marysville Police Department and is expected to be booked at the Snohomish
County Jail for multiple charges pending completion of investigation at the
scene.
