[ARCHIVED] Collision Closes State Ave for 3 hours

Marysville – 02/20/2018  4:00 PM

At about 06:50 AM this morning, Marysville Police responded to a reported collision in the 11700 block of State Ave.

A blue Honda sedan was Northbound and a Toyota van was Southbound turning east into a business parking lot.  The vehicles collided almost head on in the northbound lanes.  The 26 year old male Granite Falls driver of the Honda was extricated from his vehicle by the Marysville Fire Department and transported to the Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett with critical injuries.  At the time of this press release, the driver of the Honda was undergoing surgery at Providence Medical Center.  The 28 year old male Stanwood driver of the Toyota was transported to the same hospital for evaluation and he was later released.  There were no other passengers in the vehicles.

The collision investigation has led to information that the blue Honda and another dark passenger car were headed northbound on State Ave approaching 116th St NE.  Both vehicles were traveling in the inside lane just prior to the collision.  It is believed the Honda car involved in the collision was travelling behind the other dark colored passenger car.  The preliminary investigation has determined that speed is a factor in this collision.

If anyone witnessed the vehicles driving prior to the collision or has information regarding the collision, please contact the Marysville Police Department Collision Investigation Unit at 360-363-8300.
