[ARCHIVED] Remaining two suspects in Marysville homicide captured in California

Marysville – 02/28/18 – 5:30 PM

Jorge Martinez Junior and Jose Nava are in police custody tonight after being captured in Escondido, California.

A patrol officer with the Escondido Police Department spotted a vehicle with Washington license plates acting suspiciously. The car immediately fled into a parking lot, and three subjects fled the vehicle on foot.

Two of the three were captured without incident following a brief foot chase; Martinez and Nava. The third subject’s identity is unknown, and it is unknown if that subject is in custody at this time.

Marysville Police Detectives are headed to California, where both suspects remain in jail pending extradition arrangements.

The vehicle the suspects were located in was not stolen, and was impounded pending a search warrant.

“We’d like to thank the Escondido Police Department for capturing Martinez and Nava today, and for their continuing work to assist us on this case,” said Marysville Detective Sergeant James Maples. “Our investigation continues, but having the remaining two suspects in police custody is great news.”

Additional information will be released when available.
