Marysville Police investigators have identified three primary suspects in a string of school fires that have occurred at Pinewood Elementary School, 5100 block of 84^th St NE.

The fires occurred in the very early morning hours of May 19^th, May 21^st, and again today.

On May 19^th a plastic compost bin was set on fire and was completely consumed by the blaze, no additional damage was reported. On May 21^st the contents of a plastic recycle dumpster were set on fire, The dumpster and its contents became fully engulfed. In the early morning hours of May 23^rd the contents of a metal dumpster was set on fire. Minor damage to a Porta-Potty was reported as the result of one of the fires.

Marysville Fire District firefighters responded to all three fires and extinguished the fires before any additional damage could be done.

Investigators have been working with Marysville School District staff since Monday morning to identify the suspects that were caught on several security cameras the night of the fires. Although the investigation continues to identify several more persons of interest, at this time three Marysville individuals will be charges with crimes related to the fires.

A juvenile male was booked into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center for two counts of Reckless Burning first degree, a class C felony.

A second juvenile male will have Reckless Burning charges referred to the Snohomish County Juvenile Prosecutors office for charging.

An 18 year old male and Marysville resident will have charges of Arson, second degree, a class B felony referred to the Snohomish County Prosecutors office for charging.

 “This is still an active investigation, both into the fires themselves and the interviews of potential witnesses”, said Commander Mark Thomas of the Marysville Police Department.

 The Marysville Police Department echoes both the Marysville Fire Districts earlier press release, and a communication from the Marysville School District to staff, families, and community members to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior in and around the schools after hours by calling 911.
