[ARCHIVED] The warmth of giving: Help Marysville Police collect new coats for kids

MPD Coat Drive 2021

Add a new coat or hoodie to your shopping list this November and help the Marysville Police Department keep local children warm this winter.

“The annual coat drive is an excellent way for us to come together as a community and provide a warm and safe foundation for children in Marysville,” Police Chief Erik Scairpon said. “These coats will help them play, learn and grow. As part of the police department’s annual effort to support this drive, we pledge our service beyond the badge, and we invite you to join us in this effort!”

MPD officers will be collecting coats at Kohl’s (3713 116th St. NE, Marysville) from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Saturday, Nov. 12
  • Sunday, Nov. 13
  • Saturday, Nov. 19
  • Sunday, Nov. 20

Coats and hoodies for children and teens can also be dropped off at the Marysville Police Department, 501 Delta Ave., or City of Marysville Parks, Culture and Recreation, 6915 Armar Rd.

For more than 35 years, the Food Bank’s annual holiday Toy Store has sparked joy for children in need, providing them brand new toys, books, coats, gloves and more. The 2021 Toy Store served more than 2,000 children throughout Marysville, Tulalip and Lakewood. This event only happens with the generous donations of people, organizations and businesses across our community.

You can help support local families in many ways, big and small. Every single donation makes a difference.

To register for the Toy Store, families must live in the 98270, 98271 or 98259 zip codes or have children attending Marysville or Lakewood schools. Toy Store registration is open through Nov. 30 at http://www.marysvillefoodbank.org/toy-store. For questions or assistance, please email marysvilletoystore@gmail.com.

Community members interested in volunteering at the Food Bank can learn about opportunities at www.marysvillefoodbank.org or by calling 360-658-1054. To volunteer at the Toy Store, send an email to toystore@marysvillefoodbank.org or call/text 360-722-1918.
