This project will improve the interchange at Interstate 5 and 88th St. NE. The project is funded under the Connecting Washington Program, approved by the Washington State Legislature in the summer of 2015. The project is being administered by the Tulalip Tribes.
All of State Avenue within the City limits is built out to 5-lanes except the segment between 100th St. NE and 116th St. NE. The first phase between 100th St. NE and 104th Pl. NE is currently under construction and will be complete by the end of 2021. This phase will construct a bridge at the crossing of Quil Ceda Creek. The City is pursuing funds to construct phase 2 from 104th Pl. NE to 116th St. NE.
The 88th St. NE corridor is primarily a two lane roadway between State Ave. and 67th Ave. NE. The corridor will widen to three lanes and will include a curb, gutter and multi-use path. The project is currently under design. The City is pursuing additional funds for remaining design and construction.
