88th Street NE improvements

This project will improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety along busy 88th Street NE between just east of State Avenue and 55th Avenue NE (Phase I) and 55th to 67th Avenue NE (Phase II). Improvements include a center left-turn lane, shared use (bike and pedestrian) paths with curb, and intersection and pedestrian crossing improvements. Boarding zones and locations for future Community Transit shelters are also included.

This project does not include the intersection of State Avenue and 88th Street NE. 

The community has outgrown the two-lane rural section of road called 88th Street NE. The  city annexed this area in 2010 and executed an agreement with Snohomish County that included some county funding to help with design. Over the past several years the city has completed design, engineering, permitting and acquisition of right-of-way to prepare for construction.
